Iroda PT-600W Professional Torch Head:
Iroda's PT-600W Professional MAP-Pro Hand Torch is an adjustable, high–output, precision flame Map/Pro torch, used with (MAP/Pro) gas cylinders. The PT-600W has a new and improved design with a stronger flame, ergonomic shape, and constructed with more durable components.
The PT-600W has a one-click electronic ignition feature that is safe and convenient. Furthermore, its flame and temperatures are adjustable, with a simple turn of the flame control dial.
The Iroda Pro PT-600W connects with any standard 14.1 oz. MAP/Pro Cylinders such as: Worthington or Bernzomatic. The dimensions and threading of the cylinders are also standardized, so they are interchangeable between torches designed for MAP/Pro gas. MAP/Pro Cylinders are sold separately. The PT-600W will also work on any fluid oz. propane cylinder.

MAP-Pro Gas vs Propane:
1. Composition:
- MAP/Pro Gas (MAPP substitute): MAP/Pro is a modern replacement for the original MAPP gas (methylacetylene-propadiene propane). The current MAP/Pro gas is a mixture of propylene and propane. It is designed to perform similarly to MAPP gas but with slightly different properties.
- Propane Gas: Propane (C₃H₈) is a hydrocarbon gas that is commonly used for heating, cooking, and fuel purposes. It is a byproduct of natural gas processing and petroleum refining.
2. Temperature:
- MAP/Pro Gas: Burns at a higher temperature compared to propane. MAP/Pro burns at around 3,730°F (2,055°C) in air.
- Propane Gas: Burns at a slightly lower temperature, around 3,600°F (1,980°C) in air.
3. Performance:
- MAP/Pro Gas: Because it burns hotter, MAP/Pro is better suited for applications requiring high heat, such as brazing, soldering large pipes, or working with metals. Its higher flame temperature allows for quicker heating and more efficient work with thicker metals.
- Propane Gas: Propane is more commonly used for general heating, cooking, or light soldering. It doesn't provide as high a flame temperature, making it less ideal for industrial metalworking, but it's sufficient for everyday tasks like grilling or basic plumbing.
4. Availability and Cost:
- MAP/Pro Gas: Typically more expensive than propane, and it's usually sold in smaller yellow cylinders, often found in hardware or specialty stores.
- Propane Gas: Widely available and cheaper, often sold in various sizes from small camping canisters to large tanks for home heating or grilling.
5. Applications:
- MAP/Pro Gas: Used in professional plumbing, metalworking, and HVAC tasks where higher heat is necessary, such as soldering or brazing metal pipes and fittings.
- Propane Gas: Commonly used for outdoor grills, portable stoves, home heating, and camping. It's also used in some plumbing applications, but only where lower temperatures are sufficient.
6. Safety:
- MAP/Pro Gas: Like propane, MAP/Pro gas is flammable and should be handled with caution, but its higher burning temperature means that it requires more care in high-heat applications.
- Propane Gas: Considered relatively safe for everyday use but still needs proper handling, especially in confined spaces to avoid gas leaks.
